LUKE SORBA joined the Labour Party in 1982, (the same year he joined Amnesty International, CND and became a registered supporter of Greenpeace). He was a Senior Shop Steward in NALGO in London Borough of Lambeth between 1983 and 1989. Since then he has been a member of Equity, the actors’ union. In 2014 he was elected to represent Telegraph Hill Ward on Lewisham Council, where he has been Chair of the Children and Young People’s Select Committee since 2016, and has sat on the Violence Reduction Board, the Licensing Committee as well as currently on the Planning Committee. He was Lewisham Council’s appointee to the Council of Governors of the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust from 2016 to 2022. He is also a member of the Socialist Health Association and both King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.

Luke is a member of Telegraph Hill Branch Labour Party which he formerly chaired. He is a Delegate on the General Committee of Lewisham and Deptford Constituency Labour Party. He has been the CLP’s Delegate to Labour Party National Annual Conference and on the Lewisham Campaign Forum.
